How to Make Black Beans and Rice
Rinse the rice under cold water to remove excess starch.
Sauté the onion and garlic in a pot with a splash of oil until soft and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
Stir in the cumin and sauté for an additional minute.
Add the rinsed rice and water to the pot, bringing everything to a boil.
Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer gently for 15-20 minutes.
Heat the black beans in a separate pot over medium-low heat until warmed through, about 5 minutes.
Fluff the cooked rice with a fork to separate the grains.
Serve the fluffy rice topped generously with black beans.
Optional: Top with fresh cilantro for an added burst of freshness.
