How to Make Chocolate Strawberry Tart

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Combine the flour, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  • Mix in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in the egg yolk and add cold water until the dough forms.
  • Press the dough into a 9-inch tart pan and chill for about 15 minutes.
  • Bake the crust for 15 minutes and let it cool completely.
  • Heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until it just begins to simmer.
  • Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate and let it sit for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the optional butter and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.
  • Pour the ganache into the cooled tart crust and smooth the top.
  • Refrigerate the tart for at least 2 hours to set the ganache.
  • Arrange the sliced strawberries on top of the set ganache.
  • Garnish with mint leaves and a dusting of powdered sugar, if desired.
  • Slice the tart and serve either chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

For the best flaky texture, ensure your butter is very cold. Avoid reheating to preserve the ganache's consistency.
