Instructions

How to Make Pesto Christmas Tree

  • Thaw the puff pastry until it's flexible but still cold. Roll it out gently to smooth the surface.
  • Spread the green pesto evenly over the surface of the first pastry sheet.
  • Layer the second pastry sheet on top of the pesto-covered one, pressing down lightly to eliminate air bubbles.
  • Cut a large triangle from the layered pastry to shape your Christmas tree.
  • Slice horizontal lines along both sides of the tree, stopping before reaching the center trunk.
  • Twist each branch 1-2 times to reveal the pesto layers.
  • Create a small star from the pastry scraps and place it on top of your tree.
  • Brush the mixture of beaten egg and milk all over the tree.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Cool the Pesto Christmas Tree for just 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Garnish optionally with fresh basil or rosemary sprigs for an aromatic touch.
