Crust

  • 16 oz Refrigerated pizza dough for a flaky crust
  • 1 large Egg (beaten) for egg wash
  • 1 tbsp Dried oregano for sprinkling

Instructions

How to Make Pizza Pot Pie Skillet

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground Italian sausage until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  • Add chopped onion, minced garlic, bell pepper, and mushrooms to the skillet. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until tender.
  • Pour in pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for a few minutes until heated through.
  • Remove skillet from heat and stir in mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and black olives if using.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll out pizza dough on a floured surface until large enough to cover the skillet.
  • Pour filling into the skillet. Drape rolled-out dough over filling, tucking edges down.
  • Brush dough with beaten egg and sprinkle with dried oregano.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until crust is golden brown.
  • Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then serve warm.
  • Optional: Garnish with fresh basil for extra flavor.
