Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup milk warm
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Filling

  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

For the Frosting

  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk for frosting

Directions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
  • In another bowl, mix the milk, vegetable oil, egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract.
  • Gently combine the wet and dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  • On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle approximately ¼ inch thick.
  • Spread the softened butter over the rolled-out dough.
  • Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle it evenly over the buttered dough.
  • Roll the dough tightly from one long side to the other, forming a log. Cut it into 12 equal rolls.
  • Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving space between each roll.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.
  • While the rolls bake, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk together until smooth.
  • Spread the cream cheese frosting over the warm rolls.

Notes

Garnish with a sprinkle of cocoa powder or additional cinnamon for a festive touch. Measure ingredients accurately for the best results.
