How to Make Shrimp Sausage Dirty Rice
In a large pot, warm the olive oil over medium heat. It should shimmer gently.
Add the sliced smoked sausage to the pot. Cook until it’s nicely browned, about 5-7 minutes.
Stir in the diced onion, bell pepper, celery, and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent and everything is tender, around 3-4 minutes.
Mix in the long-grain rice and Cajun seasoning. Cook for about 2 minutes, stirring to coat the rice with all those savory flavors.
Add the chicken broth, increasing the heat to bring it to a boil.
Reduce the heat, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
Uncover the pot and gently fold in the shrimp. Cook until they turn pink and are cooked through, about 3-5 minutes.
Taste your creation and season with salt and pepper as desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
Optional: Garnish with fresh parsley for a pop of color and freshness.
