For the Rice

  • 1 cup Long-grain rice

  • 1 lb Shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 lb Smoked sausage sliced

  • 1 medium Bell pepper diced
  • 2 stalks Celery diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced

  • 2 cups Chicken broth

For Seasoning

  • 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning

Instructions

How to Make Shrimp Sausage Dirty Rice

  • In a large pot, warm the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced smoked sausage to the pot and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir in the diced onion, bell pepper, celery, and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent, around 3-4 minutes.
  • Mix in the long-grain rice and Cajun seasoning, cooking for about 2 minutes.
  • Add the chicken broth and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Uncover the pot and gently fold in the shrimp, cooking until they turn pink, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Season with salt and pepper as desired and serve hot.

Notes

Optional: Garnish with fresh parsley for enhanced color and flavor.
