Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Pound the steak to about 1/2 inch thickness and season with salt and pepper.
  • Dredge the meat in flour, shaking off excess.
  • Heat the skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
  • Brown the steak on both sides for about 3–4 minutes each.
  • Sauté the chopped onion and bell pepper until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  • Combine diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, paprika, and bay leaf.
  • Return the browned steak to the skillet and cover with sauce.
  • Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours.
  • Remove bay leaf before serving.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty bread.

Notes

Pound the meat evenly and remember to season generously. Brown steak well for rich flavor. Simmer low for tenderness.
